Wolf SpiderNow is the time to treat spiders!

After being stuck inside all winter, the whole family is excited to be able to go outdoors again and enjoy the long missed sun. However, along with spring and sun comes spiders and bugs.

Now is the best time to treat the spiders before they have a chance to breed and over populate your home and yard.

Are you protecting your children?

Spiders are commonly found under children’s play equipment, in shoes and toys that have been left out after being used. Ensure that you always check under swings, chairs and around all children’s toys for spiders hiding and making home in the small spaces within.

To help reduce spider hiding spots ensure all toys and shoes are put away after use.

Where do you treat?

To be sure that the spiders are professionally treated around you home call a Pest Alert technician who will treat all required areas of your home. Some of the more common areas include:

How does it affect my animals?

Spider treatments rarely affect most dogs and cats. During the treatment remove all food and water bowls to prevent chemical contamination. If your dog is likely to follow the technician around it is best to have them tied up until the treatment is dry. (normally 30 minutes to an hour after the treatment) Some clients arrange to have the pets taken away for this time instead.
Unfortunately the chemicals used to treat for spiders will harm birds, fish and some small animals. Our trained technicians will avoid areas with these animals or not treat inside rooms containing small animals to ensure that your pets are kept safe.

How Long Will a treatment last?

Spider treatments can vary depending on the weather changes in our area. Majority of clients find a spider treatment will last 12 months. If you do carry out heavy cleaning around the areas in which the barrier was applied, it will lessen the life span of the treatment.

Unfortunately, we cannot control the weather and rain but to get the most out of your treatment do not use high pressure water around the window sills, cracks and crevices around the exterior of your home.
