Description

Bed bugs are a common challenge for most motels, hotels, hostels, restaurants and households and a persistent battle for most lodgings. Their bites are known to cause some adverse or allergic reactions due to the anti-coagulant chemical they inject into your blood stream to help prevent the blood from clotting white they feed.

Life Cycle

Bed Bugs can lay 1-5 eggs a day until around 200 eggs have been laid. Eggs then hatch after 6-17 days in prime environments. From the 1mm long white egg, bed bugs hatch into a Nymph. A Nymph cannot moult until it has had its first feed, then after five moults which takes roughly 14-48 days they mature into adulthood. They then like to feed at night or in early hours of the morning every two to three days before returning back to their hiding spots.

Location

Bed bugs are usually found in cracks and crevices such as the folds of mattresses, in bed springs, or in the cracks or material of furniture anywhere that is close to their food source.

Food

Bed Bugs eat warm bodied animal’s blood, even though they prefer our blood they will also consumer other animal blood such as dogs and cats. Adults can live more than 12 months without eating.
