In our great land of Australia, we have such a diverse environment that sets a challenge for your local Pestie. Today we will go through a few myths and facts together to help you better understand how to protect your house against pests.

Truth: It’s true that the warmer months we do see more spider activity in and around your home or office however this does not mean that they are not still around as it starts to cool down. Unfortunately, often they have found shelter in your home which is why getting an annual spray done to protect your home is so important.

Truth: While peaks in activity can depend on the species of mosquitoes, this does not rule out environmental factors such as tropical weather conditions or even areas with still water like ponds or puddles.

Truth: While it is true that a termites main food source its wood, they also can cause extensive damage to materials such as paper, some plastics and insulations. If you suspect termite activity in or around your home, you should contact your local pest control and organise a termite inspection.

Truth: While DIY pest control can help small infestations, they are often just skimming over the real reason you are having problems. Professional pest control firms have equipped themselves with up-to-date knowledge of chemicals and effective pest detection and control methods. They also have an extensive knowledge of the large range of pests that we are faced with in Australia and how to most effectively treat them.

Truth: This does sound great but unfortunately it is simply not the case effective, pest control is an ongoing process that requires regular intervention to help keep pests at bay.

Truth: To someone who is not in the industry we can see how this assumption is an easy one to make but it if far from the truth. Different firms can have specialities for example here at Pest Alert we have an extensive knowledge in termite detection and treatment as we are a third-generation family-owned business, and this knowledge has been passed down and built upon over many years.
